Guided Nature & Mindfulness Hikes
Sunrise Hikes
Sunrise Nature Hikes are opportunities to go on guided hikes with a naturalist. They are designed to encourage curiosity, maximize appreciation, and create community in the many natural spaces throughout Washtenaw County. Each month, we will explore a different location and discover what is happening with the plants and animals during each season.
Mindfulness Hikes
These gentle, meditative walks—led by a naturalist and a wellness instructor—offer a chance to slow down and engage your senses. Designed to cultivate inner calm and a deeper connection with nature, these hikes invite participants to release stress and experience the quiet joy of simply being present in the outdoors

Outstanding Orthoptera

The fields of summer are alive with sounds of music and the musicians are all members of the insect order orthoptera. Otherwise known as crickets, grasshoppers, and katydids, these creatures are known for long legs giving them the ability to jump, stiff wings able to fold against their bodies, and the songs created by rubbing their wings against each other or against their legs. Join naturalist Elle Bogle in exploring their differences and similarities using sweep nets to catch them and field guides to ID them. Pre-registration required. This program is offered in collaboration with Washtenaw County Parks.
