Nature’s Recyclers
Spring or Fall | Grade Level 2-4
Nature’s waste and remains don’t just pile up, they decompose and are recycled. This program provides students with an investigation with the F.B.I. (fungi, bacteria, invertebrates) as they learn how these recyclers do their incredible jobs or turning death into new life.
Vernal Pools
Spring | Grade Level 2-5
Vernal pools are temporary essential wetland ecosystems abounding with spring life. This program teaches all about these remarkable ecosystems through hands on examination and study of the tiny ephemeral creatures, ranging from frogs to fairy shrimp and dozens of other aquatic dwellers hidden beneath the smooth water of leafy, woodland pools.
Pond Habitat
Spring | Grade Level 3-5
This program invites students to explore and investigate pond habitats in their natural environment. Through hands-on activities, students gain a deeper understanding of pond ecosystems and the organisms that call them home. The experience encourages young learners to step outside their own perspective and consider the world through the eyes of other living things.
Habitat Hike
Spring or Fall | Grade Level 3-4
This field trip offers students a hands-on opportunity to explore and investigate local habitats in their natural surroundings. The experience deepens understanding of plants, animals, fungi, and the intricate web of connections that sustain life within an ecosystem. Students will also have the chance to observe and compare multiple habitat types in one location, enhancing their ability to recognize both diversity and interdependence in nature.
Signs of the Seasons
Spring or Fall | Grade Level K-1
This program provides students with an exploration of either the spring or fall season through examination of the forest floor’s little creatures, discovery of spring flowers or changing leaves, and observation of other exciting spring or fall events. Students will use their 5 senses to explore the changing seasons.
